Shinola Hotel:

We were in Detroit for one of my best friend's wedding. He actually got a block here, and though I of course was familiar with the watches, and the retail stores, I had no idea they had a hotel. The rooms were great, and felt very similar to the retail stores which has always been nice. We felt very welcome and the location was wonderful - very walkable to effectively everything you'd want to do in the downtown area - Tigers Baseball, Pistons/Redwings' arena are all close. It's also not a far walk to the river where you can see Canada just across the water which is neat, and you can walk to the GM headquarters is also cool. Definitely recommend this hotel if you're in the area.

Great espresso found in an alley right behind the Shinola Hotel in downtown Detroit. Super friendly staff and some tasty espresso! Check it out.

 

Cannelle Bakery

45 W Grand River Ave, Detroit, MI 48226

Just a block away from the Shinola hotel, this bakery has some exquisite croissants to say the least. We only went one time, but something tells me I could go every day for a week, get something different, and still be blown away. Healthy? Perhaps not the most, but that's what vacations are for, right?  :)
